Dear Friends:
My sons Peter, Brian, Erik, my dad and I send this card to...all the WMPA neighbors as a thank you for the absolutely wonderful watercolor ... of our old cottage. Its loss in the fire last November was devastating to us. People well beyond our family suffered its loss also. When the fire consumed our cottage, a part of the hearts of everyone who love this special spot in the world called Ottawa Beach was also consumed. Our loss was everybody’s loss.
...There is no one act or gift that could be a greater tribute to my family, our cottage and me than this painting of the cottage. I write this through tears of gratitude and love for our wonderful cottage and for the appreciation of this Lake Michigan beach that bonds each of us to one another.
Shortly, a new cottage will house (our) family and friends. It promises to be a place for generations to enjoy. Everyone who enters our new cottage will be introduced to or reminded of the former occupant of this spot of sand - our cottage. In the most prominent spot in the new cottage will hang the ... watercolor (and) as long as the new cottage stands, the old one will be alive in this picture.
Thanks to you ... And everyone.

A note of thanks from Karen H to her Ottawa Beach friends
